Hey guys I am having trouble with nitrate and was wondering if I can get rid of it fast. I do 10% water changes to my 55 gallon everyweek and I tested the water and its ph, hardness, nitrite, and ammonia are all on normal levels except nitrate. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

I do 50% every week on my 55g to keep the nitrates between 20 and 30. Sounds like you are keeping africans. So you might want to pretreat the water so you can do a bigger change without stressing them out. Or do 10% changes far more often.

i would treat the tank with prime for a full week every day, that should help alot, why dont u try to feed ur fish a bit less to for a bit

Yeah do more than 10%. Unless your stock is low 10% is going to do barely anything. Also what is high? To me high is over 40ppm while other would say over 10ppm.

10% a week is rediculous.... If you have high nitrates why wouldn't you just do more water changes?

My 180g with my old jags got a 50% a week.... nitrates where below 10ppm all the time..

You should be doing 10% waterchange a day or 50% a week. Why the hell do you only do 10%

No, that's actually a terrible idea. Prime doesn't even affect nitrates. And talk about toxicity...

It does actually. Read the bottle. But I'd rather just do some WC's then go chemical to reduce nitrates.

x2

chemicals are dumb..

i was told 10% water changes a week, also is there a faster way of adding water in the tank rather than waiting 15 mins. for a 1 gallon bag to get to the right temp.? thanks
