High Ph

Maybe I am answering my own question, but I guess water changes will lower my ph level. I am at 8.0 right now, would like to get down to 7.4 area. All othe levels are at the big zero, so I am happy with that. I have a Tiger oscar, JD, two Convicts, two Pictus Catfish, and a Red Devil all except the cats are small, around the same size. Except the red devil is a fry, but does not matter, he chases after the catfish.

water changes will help if the tap water is lower in pH. if your tap is 8.0 then you wont be doing anything. test your tap. if your tap is the same as your tank, add driftwood and remove any shells coral or other calcium rich objects in your tank.

I tested the tap water and it is lower, so I guess I did answer my own question. I have driftwood in there and no shells, just rock. Here is a pic. Thanks for the comeback.

Keep your tank at the same pH as your tap water. Your fish will thank you for it.

if that doesn't do it for ya the seachem discus buffer has always worked wonders for me if used in moderation and if the pH is changed gradually

on my Oscar tank I use the Seachem Neutral PH Regulator, my tap PH is also high and it seems to help...
