I can not believe how high plain jane cichla are going for! I have seen two posts now for farm bred Monos at $60! Unbelievable!:screwy:

What are people thinking..... it seems like people so do some research before buying! Farm bred Monos should not be over $15! :)

I know. I sold my wild mono's for $40.00 a peice.

I think it has to do with not enough people thinking about the differences between farm/wc or knowing there's a difference, and the fact that pbass even farms might be rare in some areas.

The other thing I think is most farm's aren't actually being sold for that kind of price. Most get the price lowered on them and then eventually sell.

I mean if you look most wilds sell fast, the farm cichla usually take longer to sell and I would think drop in price at least once.

I guess agreeing I see the high prices but I don't think they're selling too fast.

I see some go fast... I guess it depends on the location of the fish too!...

hello... may i ask whats the differences between wild monos and farm bred? the appreances, colors? y farm bred shud not be priced high too?

Cichla are on the rise still and demand is still pushing the price higher by people that know others Farm or wild bred will pay a bundle for... I ahd an offer for mine not long ago and laughed!!! Mine are farm bred and I couldn't believe the offer !!! Fact is Cichla are Hot now Like Datnoids a few months ago :)

Wild or F0: Usually will turn out to be a better looking fish(better color/pattern) no interbreeding, usually you will know what river/area it came from.

farm bred: could end up with not pure monos, ocellaris , tems. Even if you do, usually not up to the same quality as wild fish.

I'm sure there are more differences but those be the basic.

Farm bred shouldn't be priced as high, well because not really the same quality fish as a wild.

Don't forget farm bred are more likely to adapt well to tank conditions, take dry food , and spawn ;)

I like the idea of farm bred leave the wild fish in the wild whenever possible

I have a wild Golden Azul that's for sale... what's it worth to you?

Just so you know... $500 won't even get a response from me. Better be bringing a K for me to take you seriously.

Anyone interested? ;)
