Hey, that was tongue in cheek!
Seriously though a little fasting never hurt anyone.
I feed mine twice a day. No problems here and I use Dainichi.
Of course due to the outstanding advice found here, I will be moving towards NLS as soon as I can get to the LFS (200 mi)
200 miles is pretty intense. Better stock up eh? Also I know that fish can go a long time with out food and in the wild sometimes do. But in my countless hours of reading assorted material on african cichlids I haven't seen anything about fasting for a day untill now. I'm just wondering the benefits of this and would it be worth it to me to alter the my feeding schedule.
As a mbuna keeper I have been advised to fast my fish for a day from a lot of people. It helps clear out their digestive tract a bit and since they can be sensitive to bloat and such I believe it can't hurt. Now I would not say it's needed so it's really up to you if you want to try the practice or not.
