So my original thread started under "Fluval LED" http://monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=556935 but recently I've changed to 2x 65watt cfl flood light fixture. I thought it deserves its update and progression.

40 gallon breeder -3'x18"- w/ 5lbs bottle injected co2 (apprx 2bps-drop checker reads ideal) & a total of 8600 lumens @ 6500k

Inhabitants: Striolatus Piranha -4.5"-, 3x SAE, Breeding pair of mollies, breeding guppies and ghost shrimp, 6-8x bamboo shrimp, assassin snails and a trumpet.

Substrate consist of eco complete, pfs and river pebble and rock.

Fertz are simply flourish comprehensive/trace (switching to dry fertz soon, anyone have a good site?) 1x 60% wc per week filtered by ac110 w/ pre filter & 750gph circulator, hardly reading no3 but tank is cycled w/ no ammonia/nitrite readings.

Mind you this is my first planted tank apart from terrestrial pothos, I've researched and spent a lot of time around here reading stickies and threads crossing my T's and doting my I's!

I still have a ton to learn but much thanks goes out to Fat Homer, LS, JP and all the others mods/members whom have contributed to the planted section!

Cheers

Thanks mate! Actually had to do a peroxide dip for the Java due to bba, pretty sure its was due to new tank syndrome or too much light. Hopefully in the corner its fine now.

Things are coming along nicely, especially since I switched to dry fertz! Algae scrubber is still going strong and its a good food source for my fry and shrimps!

The Madagascar lace leaf plant is literally taking over my tank!

Assassin/trumpet/nerite snails, bamboo/ghost shrimp's, SAE'S, Otto cats, breeding mollies and guppies and lastly a 4.5" striolatus piranha!

Putting my DIY canopy on tonight to contain that massive amount of light

Tanks looking good so far, although for me personally, the moss is looking a little messy...

But otherwise everything else is looking good :)

Yea didn't realize the moss would grow that fast. From my research it was a slow grower but I guess with the crazy lighting and co2 it doesn't matter. Thanks

What's that algae scrubber thingy you go there? I can't say I've seen that. Does it draw any algae growth to that pad or something?

Yes all the nuisance algae that would normally grow in a tank instead grows on a small 3"x5" plastic screen contained in the plastic bin. 2500k intense 18-24hr Light + constant air or bubbles = algae and algae grows where those are prevalent! You take the screen out every 4 weeks for so and clean it that's it! Also mines magnet mounted making it easy. My tank is starting to clear of bba and string algae and its growing on the screen.

Finally installed my DIY canopy last night will update with pics, lights are mounted 3-4" higher and co2 turned down a tad so hopefully it evens everything out!

I tried responding to your pm F1 Vet, your mailbox is full and I could not send my response.

I appreciate the offer but I'm actually doing ok with algae at the moment *knocks on wood*. I just got all my tanks totally cleaned out and set back up about 6 weeks ago. Two of my tanks have snails also, which usually keep the tank/glass clean. My other tank I'm looking at getting some shrimp to take part in algae reduction.

Thanks also for explaining how the scrubber works! Very cool product. I'm gonna have to remember it if algae ever gets out of control.
