Sorry didn't see the fluorescent part. I'm just excited about Current's new ramp timer pro. I've been waiting for it for a log time. And for their new planted tank light to go with my Sat+ light :) Greenleaf has great products and prices.

Yea does look cool! But unfortunately a florescent ballast is complicated and some cannot be dimmed like leds.

As a temp solution I set my marineland leds which I only use for a dim moonlight atm to now come on 15min before my main 130watts of lighting. Led is still extremely dim compared to the mains but at least it somewhat of a transition AND since my mains are outdoor floodlights they had photo sensors on them meaning when they sense dark they turn on and off when they sense light. So I was thinking of putting the eye back in one of the 2 fixtures so when the led goes off a few minutes after the 1 main it triggers the 2nd main and even when the leds shut off its dark enough under the hood so the 2nd main should stay on.

Kind of complicated but basically 12watts of led to 77watts of led+florescent to 130watts of only florescent(mains) in about 20 min time and vice versa when shutting off at night.

Should help IMO but we will see. 1st test tomorrow.

Yes greanleaf is awesome, very fast shipping! BTW for macros I have:
Potassium Nitrate (KNO3)
Mono Potassium Phosphate (KH2PO4)
Potassium Sulfate (K2SO4)
But I don't use the K2SO4 only the 1st two and obviously the trace (micros) Which do you prefer with your kn03 dosing? Thx for your help!

All your hard work pays off by the looks of your tank :)

I'm not sure who enjoys all the buttons on my Sat+ LED, me or my 4 year old! My SA planted tank is tall, low tech and really needs more light. That's why I'm impatiently waiting for more info on the new planted tank leds, par data isn't out yet for tall tanks.
The micro mix uses CSM+B, the macro mix uses MgSO4, K2SO4, KNO3, and Kh2PO4. I haven't considered others. Although I do use flourish root tabs. Do you think another regimen would be more helpful?

Not sure but I heard using K2SO4 potassium sulfate & KH2PO4 mono potassium phosphates together isn't good but I just realized those were 2005 and older threads.

They thought both provided adequate sources of potassium but didn't realize one was phosphates as well....!

And with MGSO4 if you have a GH (general harness of tap) of 4° or more and do regular water changes MGSO4 isn't needed but my water is hard so I can only assume my GH is easily 4° or more (my gh test kit arrives in a few days along with Rena xp3 and phosphate test kit)

Good to know I should be dosing both potassium and phosphates!

dude, I never thought shrimp and pirahna would mix...but damn.

Also, your flowering plant is Cabomba furcata aka Red Cabomba...and its super sweet that its flowering for you as I can't get mine to do that :P Your lace is also pretty epic, but I gotta ask, the red plant you have a good chunk of....is that Red Nessea? If so, I gotta ask, HOW?????? I can't get that plant to grow for the life of me, and I can't find a good source for it since the emerged stuff doesn't like converting for me.

I'ma be following this.

The furcata (thanks for the name) from what I understand only flowers when it reaches the waterline so I'm not sure how mine flowered but I run high light and co2 if that helps!

As for the "chunk" I think is Nesaea crassicaulis, in the 50 days I've had it I haven't seen much growth, mainly more width but its still going strong!

This is my 1st planted tank and I think I just got lucky, flourite 1st layer then pfs then larger gravel on top with dry fert regimine @78-79°.... that's all I got for ya!

Injected co2/high lumens/6500k spectrum/good sub and dry fertz imo made most of my luck success! Pretty sad I've used an hob (ac110) this far into it! Lets just say almost daily top offs!

Appreciate the feedback! All my plants are purchased locally, none have been shipped to me.

I'm new to planted tanks. Still learning about proper dosing regimens and dose per the parameters of my tank based on convos with plantedtank members and Greenleaf reps. So pls don't change anything based on my tank, esp when yours is so successful.

I have private well water, so I use an r/o system with seachem equilibrium and alkaline buffer for the SA cichlids. My pH is 7.4, GH 4, KH 5 after ferts, equilibrium and buffers. My WC on this tank is 30% weekly on a 110g, unless nitrates get close to 20, then its sooner. I'm obsessed with nitrates and test constantly. That's why I stuck in pothos after reading your thread. Im going to read the rexgrigg info and do more research about fert ingredients. If there's something I can do to improve plant growth, I'm open to learning! So thanks for the info and please do feel free to make more suggestions :)

Likewise! I've learned a ton off you!

And POTHOS my favorite plant ever! Definitely will help with nitrates or you can even dose less KN03 (postassium nitrate) from what I've read to reduce your nitrate/n03 levels because pothos seems to consume some ammonia before the Bio filters hit it thus reducing n03 but we still have some facts to learn about this plant in aquariums and soon we should know exactly what its capable of. Have tests going on un-cycled tanks with ammonia and no nitrite/nitrate vs cycled.

So it may consume some ammonia meaning it reduces nitrites and nitrates.?

My Xp3 should arrive tomorrow. Excited to set it up and not run an hob! Eventually I will get a ATOMIC Co2 diffuser to hook up to it, then a hydor inline heater then a hydor evo circulator and possibly a temp controller and ill be done ;)

Update:

Installed the Xp3 a week ago which makes everything look cleaner, my gh/kh is absolutely off the charts, its a wonder how im getting good results.

On another note Ive never been able to get my co2 checker to turn green and ive noticed some recent algae (very high light without enough co2 is algaes paradise) so i researched and built my own Rex Grigg reactor to hook up inline with the Xp3, now i can see only a few tiny bubbles as opposed to thousands with my old setup indicating the gas is dissolving in the water!

Reactor is 2" pvc thats 20" long. Very simple and effective design. Now when my co2 solenoid kicks on the checker turns green in less then an hour!

I dont quite think shoving airline in a hole is a great idea because when the gas pressure turns off it puts h2o in that line so i went with a brass fitting that i drilled and tapped for reassurance.

Obviously did some serious pruning

My Madagascar lace plant is out of control, largest leaf is 2 feet!

And for the past couple weeks my striolatus piranha is back to 100%! Thanks for looking!
