Hey everyone.
For the hell of it I'm going to make a list of reptile species which really don't exist at all in the pet trade and I think they should.
Yellow Tegu: Very pretty species that probably has easy care requirements and a good disposition comparable to the Red Tegu (they're actually the same species according to some)
False Monitor: Fantastic example of convergent evolution.
Crocodile Tegu: Well.. maybe not. semi-aquatic with a long tail, but probably little different in terms of care from the Caiman Lizard
Short-Tailed Goanna: Smallest Monitor in the world. 'nuff said.
(I don't think that's an adult)
Shingleback Skink: Very hardy captives with endearing personalities.
Pygmy Blue-Tongue Skink: Very small and probably hardy, but they're endangered, so maybe not
.
Blue Anole: Should be brought into captivity out of necessity; may become extinct soon and there are none in captivity. Probably relatively easy to breed.
Chinese Alligator: Reasonably small, [probably] doesn't have the nasty attitude of a dwarf caiman or crocodile, and the hatchlings apparently don't stress out very easily. Probably the best species of crocodilian to keep as a pet, but that's not saying much. Regardless; its a hell of a lot better than an American Alligator or a Spectacled Caiman.
What do you guys think? Anything that should be added or removed?
Oh yeah.. and none of these pictures are mine.
