Last time I checked, Chinese Alligators were an endangered species... Probably should come off that list. They are fun little bastards though, I got to play with some while visiting other zoos.

*Edit.. Oh, and what should be imported into the US? Lots of Australian and Mexican species... we need new bloodlines.

they are but are breed so prolificly in farms that there really is no reason not to commercialize them. hopefully soon :D

I've read that they're farmed for the leather and food industry, correct me if I'm wrong... If I can have one made out of a purse why not a live one?

I say we all go on collecting trip for chinese alligator

I just realized that I had no snakes or turtles/tortoises on that list.
I actually do also support bringing in more individuals for species already reasonably well represented in captivity; like the Ackie monitor just go get some fresh genes flowing in the captive populations.

I just thought of a few other species before I went to bed, but now I can't remember. When I do I'll post them.

Also, no love for the Short-tailed monitor or Yellow Tegu? I'm surprised!

As per the Chinese Alligators; China doesn't have the same ultra-strict animal exportation laws that Australia and South America does (hence, there are no short-tailed goannas, yellow tegus or croc tegus in the trade), but there's a jungle of CITES work to go through because they are technically considered endangered. A FEW lucky people in the US have gotten them though. I believe naturecoastexotics got a pair, but that was a long time ago, their site is under maintenance now, and apparently they have yet to get hatchlings out of them.

I have wanted a shingleback skink for the llongest time, I got to play with some a while back and they have fun personalities. But are they EXPENSIVE when they pop up. And if i am gonna spend the money on a animal like that its gonna be a albadra.

Now, i would love to see someone to start introducing fiji iguanas more often in the trade.

Also we need some of the Draco species in captivity, such as Draco blanfordii, Draco dussumieri, draco volans, and draco maximus.

There is alot of CITEs since they are endangered but someone has to be willing to do it. They are farmed quite prolificly so someone HAS to be willing to get some. Anyone thinking about doing it? :D
