Hey everyone,
I wanted to know weather hikari or prawns are better to feed on the basis of colour...Leave health just COLOUR and this is for a gold arowana.I've seen pics of peoples aro on hikari and noticed that the aro's red colour has been enhanced amazingly
Also at what size can we feed prawns with shell as I've heard you feed aro babies prawns with shell it is not easy on digestion...
I beleive the shell gives better colour.
Thanks,
Nithin

for myself, I prefer hikari over just prawn but you can use both. The only aro I used MP with shell was my first aro @ 24" at that time but no heads.

I also prefer hikari as it is easy to feed while prawns you need to thaw it before feeding but if it gives better colour for gold arowana's then i will feed prawns...

prawns as an exclusive daily diet for aros or other carnivorous fish is not advisable.. prawns are fatty and way too much cholesterol.. may be once in a while should be ok.. hikari or any other quality pellet should be stable for aros.. hikari has a variety of floating feed and though they have segregated it as koi and carnivorous fish.. the protein content and the contents actually vary slightly, thats it.. tropical floating sticks ( carni sticks are just the same.. just a little longer), hikari economy and saki hikari basic.. its a matter of getting them to eat these.. end of the day your wallet also matters.. a kg of floating sticks used to cost me 3k.. cheaper to buy from the direct distributor.. google indus marketing..

Is your golden aro pellet train already?

If it is, i would just feed it pellets bc i once had an jardini aro that ate pellets only and then when i fed it shrimp, it stop eating pellets

use both.

Hikari food has high vit and mineral levels, vitamin c, as well as concentrated protein.
But the fish does not usually eat as much of it when they are older.
MP they love, so if you feed both, you would fill the void betweenthe two foods.

i have had the best growth when i fed a mix of prawn, live insects and pellets...
the growth is astounding....

after hours of hikari sticks intro, my aro eats em but the last few sticks he ate was quite messy and the next day i fed him hikari he didnt touch em :(

at least ur aro ate some pellets which means its almost pellet trained.. im like on my third week of pellet training my 10'' jardini.. im using the pbass pellet training method in their sticky section... drop one live food & then pellet, one live n then pellet... i dont know if i should just ditch that method and just straight up starve it since its been in the third week already

i agree, its always good to mix up their diet for better growth, but then again, mp or live food is not always readily available to me so thats why i need to pellet train my fish
