Hikari food sticks VS Market Prawns

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
at least ur aro ate some pellets which means its almost pellet trained.. im like on my third week of pellet training my 10'' jardini.. im using the pbass pellet training method in their sticky section... drop one live food & then pellet, one live n then pellet... i dont know if i should just ditch that method and just straight up starve it since its been in the third week already

i agree, its always good to mix up their diet for better growth, but then again, mp or live food is not always readily available to me so thats why i need to pellet train my fish

hey u tried squeezing food sticks into meal prawns? i wanna try that but am scared that my aro would go back to meal prawns

My aro does take a small piece of cooked shrimp which is stuffed with a hikari pellet inside. If i give him a second or third piece then he will spit it out. Works sometimes.

Its messy and a hassle. I just want him to eat pellets as a stable and all other stuff i can give as treats when its available to me.

Im sick of my wife complaining of live roaches or superworms in the house so im trying really hard this time for real as i gave up like two to three times in the past after two weeks

use both.

Hikari food has high vit and mineral levels, vitamin c, as well as concentrated protein.
But the fish does not usually eat as much of it when they are older.
MP they love, so if you feed both, you would fill the void betweenthe two foods.

i have had the best growth when i fed a mix of prawn, live insects and pellets...
the growth is astounding....
A repetition of 3 days Hikari,1 day MP and once in a month platty will be good?

yeah that's too bad. i stopped feeding all those insects sw, mealworms n etc bcs of the same thing too. and its making my water dirty too. and then feed him mealprawns which he accept readily. now waiting for him to fully accept pellets

Patience is the key. My 3 yr old arowana took almost a yr to pellet train. Basically I offered only hikari pellets and after 1 yr he finally accepted them. No other foods were offered either. He only ate about 30 pellets in the entire year before he finally started to go after them aggressively and then eat 10-15 pellets per day. He was a full grown crossback. The one in my avatar. Unfortunately he jumped through an opening in the makeshift lid I had on the tank while I was waiting for the new lids from the aquarium builder. All that work for nothing. Now I have to start all over with a new aro.

Prawns enhance the red color so I don't think will have much impact on a gold xb.

My aro used to eat live frogs only then I train mp which luckily he takes it willingly then I start put hikari food sticks in the prawn , and he start rejecting it the prawn so I stop and continue with live frogs than back to prawns and recently I start to put hikari sticks into the prawn and he accepts it

In fact even my fire eel, clown knife and spotted gar accept the prawns with sticks

Mine did eat both prawn/mussel and pellet, but after a while he would only take the fresh food. once they are on a stable pellet I would leave it at that. unfortunately I had to feed other fish which wouldn't eat the pellets, so while trying to get prawns to them he ended eating some and now struggling to get him back on pellets
