I buy all my food online. It's still less than half the price of lfs even with shipping.

Drs Foster and Smith has Hikari Massivore 13.4 oz for $18.69 on sale right now. My lfs wants $44.99 for the same bag.

I don't like to buy the big bags because I like to keep it fresh. My fish seem to eat better when I keep it fresh and so 6 or 7 bucks a month is not a big deal. I feed my dithers the algae wafers first and so it is really just 2 fish that I am feeding the hikari gold too. plus i give cubes once in a while as a treat so the stuff I get goes for a while.

Hard to see, but on the bottom left of the gold strip, before the word "Hikari" there is a blue circle with a downward pointing arrow that says sinking type

Under the viewing window, above the Oscar, it says "Floating Type"

You must not have very big fish

I go thru a 13.4 oz bag and a half bag of Massivore per month. Trust me, it's stays fresh. Even if you don't use that much, it has a ziplock on the bag. Squeeze the air out and zip it.

Hikari likes to change the colors of their packaging from time to time, mentioning that they used to have a white package too at some point.

I imagine the clever white packages he was referring to is the algae wafers.

In that pic it may look silver, but its white

My LFS sell all three (blue, red, white) right next to each other so I'm guessing he was talking about that one, not algae wafers.

The white could be Bio-Gold, that's what I get. It's a little more expensive than the Gold (red bags), and it's harder to find; many fish store chains just carry the Staple and Gold. Here is some of mine:

Yea I looked when I got home. It says it in black on blue background about the sinking too at the bottom of the bag. I was in a hurry and so that's why I asked the Petsmart guy. I should have known better lol.

I do squeeze out the air but you know how zip locks are. Plus once in a while I have to remind certain other people not to feed my fish and one of the reasons is because they bag doesn't get closed as it should. I don't mind going to get food once a month anyways. Gives me a good reason to go to the fish store.
