Hikari vs. NLS...do your fish like it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my CK loves massivore but will eat NLS after spitting it out 5 or 6 times.all the rest of my fish that are in community tanks have the choice of eating Hikari floating or the sinking NLS will eat the NLS first.i prefer to feed the NLS since it leaves less mess in the water and dont break down as fast.

I have been feeding my guys something called "New Era" for the past 10 months. They LOVE it..Even my Tiger shovel nose took to it immediatly. Before i got this food, he didnt even look at pelleted food. New fish introduced to the tank also take to it right away! They are small, but soft pellets so you can easily bunch them together to make larger chunks for bigger fish. I can only get it at a LFS that is like 45 minutes from my house. But you can order the stuff online. Check it out, let me know what you think!

i stay out of debates about which company has the best food. The lone thing i want to point out is your fish readily eating it does not make it the best choice for your fish's health. i dont like human comparison for things like this but i feel this is appropriate. What foods are you most likely to readily eat if given a choice? i bet the type of food that will pop in most of your head isn't the healthiest choice

Im not trying to start a "brand" war. I just would like to know others experience and personal opinions.

What makes NLS a healthier pellet?

Variety is the spice of life.. But I agree w/ some things NLS really ups my fishes overall health, brighter colors, more activity, more "vavavoom!" in the tanks. Hikari Excel is my gars favorite food other then krill. But it tends to break up fairly easy. And its hard getting my other fish to take particualarly my Bichir now that they take NLS. My Ornate has been on it since I got her, and her colors are like a crayon book. Sometimes I htink the NLS pellet itself is abit to hard in general as my fish will spit and suck the pellets in quite a few times as well before swallowing them.
