Was just wondering if anyone has hillstream loaches here on MFK...

Please post pics and describe your setups and any tips you might have.

I have kept Hillstreams in the past. I had a couple in a 40G with some goldfish and a dojo loach. The tank contained smoothed rocks etc for the hillstreams, and fast moving highly oxygenated water. They seemed to love it and devoured all the algae in the tank. Great wee fish, adds a little interest to the tank, highly recommended :)

I'd like to hear other peoples experiences with these fish. I see them from time to time, and would love some, but don't think they would fit in with my current stock. If I remember correctly they only get about 3", if that? Probably not a good idea to put into a 90 gallon with a 6" pleco and Choco cichlid eh? I'd love to have about 10 of them in there.

Apparently they need fast moving, highly oxygenated cool water to thrive, and most fish don't tolerate that well.

^^ That's a must read.

Very interesting reading. There's no way they would work with my tank setup let alone what's in it. I guess I'll just continue to admire them at the LFS.

I'm still wanting to see more pics of them and curious what people keep with them, and setup styles.

I am thinking of upgrading the fish in my 20 gallon in my signature to a 33 gallon or a 40 long, so I'm going to have a spare 20 long for whatever.
Thinking of setting up that tank design in the link with an aquaclear 70 powerhead I have laying around.

Would be keeping them with white cloud minnows and some species of shrimp.

I personally like these

They were easy to keep nothing special, got along great with my zebra plecos.
