his eyes where bigger than his stomac

ouch poor fish

Wow, some appetite; sorry for both of your loss. That's why I skip a day of feeding just so they have chance to digest.

Sorry to hear about this :(

Losing a poly is the worst, at least you know why though. Sometimes we lose bichirs with no symptoms (until just before dying) no marks/parasites/etc..

Hello,

sorry for your loss ...

I also lost one of my senegals weeks ago - he also had bigger eyes than stomach ... but he did his oral suicide with the litle help of sturgeon pellets! He couldn't stop eating, was the first when food came into the tank (even quicker than my Channa pulchra, and he's a beast!). The other fish got nothing - and the senegalus were blown up day by day like a zeppelin. One day his hunger ended deadly for him, i had no chance to stop the crazyness.
Anything must be wrong in his head ...

Greetings

Uwe
ouch it might have been this diasese human can get when there stomach dont send a message to there brain that they ate and in which they feel like they are starving to death i heat they gotta be straped down to a chair in order to stop them from eating

Wow that's insane! My bichirs usually know when they've had enough or when something is just too big for them to eat. They usually don't even make the slighest attempt to eat it. I feed my bichirs 3 times a week though. They eat, get a day or so to digest, then they eat again. I went like 3 almost 4 days without feeding my bichirs and my 10" Ornate decided that he was going to eat one of my 6" Hujenta Gars as a result. That's about as big of a meal that's been tackled in my tank.

Also I wonder if you had somehow caught him while he was eating it, could it have been possible to just pull the eel out of his mouth?

Hello,

mine who died "exploded" after only feeding sturgeon pellets - diameter ca. 2-3mm!

Not only size matters ... even quantity!

Look here what these little feed balls could do with a senegal:

hey uwe... when i had my wipeout a few weeks back my sens had cuts like that, i doubt you remember (as there are more important things) but all my fish had contracted slime disease. only my polys had these cuts, no sign on the oscar or silver dollar. i would keep an eye on them... i dont want history to repeat itself, especially if your other polys are as nice as that sen...
