Was browsing around and found this 'Supplemental Sheet' to the Stingray AquaLog.

Link, Page 24: http://www.aqualog.de/news/news_pdfen/news78e.pdf

It talks about the P. Histrix imported from Argentina, and how it is completely different than the P. cf. Histrix imported from the Rio Negro (which is now concluded as an undescribed species) It also shows some poor quality photos. These were the first recorded images of the Argentina Histrix to be published in quite some time, however MFK user Stefan had one in his personal collection not to long ago.

They are suppose to be one of the absolute smallest rays, more so than Scobina... ?

It touches base on P. Brachyura, but that is kind of old news. We have threads on them. It also notes that P. Castexi and P. Falkneri were found in those locales, and were the same variants found in Peru. (Falkneri is found in Peru? a dream come to for some.. )

I hope some find this info useful.

so what we know as hystrix is not really hystrix???? and they are not banned from export they just come from a country we get no rays from really.... the falkneri statement is gonna open alot of OMG i got a falkneri threads now i hope you know this :)

noooo please not again lol

That ray stefan has is LOVELY and I wish we could get more rays form Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina as there are species there that are rarely if ever imported in the U.S.

Yesterday I was asked to go collecting in Uruguay but for now I can only dream about it. :(

link to pictures of this ray that stefan has???

almost looks like a tiger ray.......

The pattern, but the tall dome body shape reminds of the Histryx from Brazil. Could narijus rays be the "true, true" histryx?

Ive been saying it awhile now but as soon as I can get my ass down to Paraguay to visit the in-laws Im going to catch stingrays and bring them back! My bro-inlaw said he remembers a lake where there were rays every where~!

Here is a pic of Nariju's Ray and StefanW rays.. both I suspect to be the "True" Argentina Histrix (This is what the original scientific data most represents).. notice the body structure and small size of maturity(12").

While there is also the "True" Histrix, which should be called Potamotrygon cf. Histrix "Rio Negro", and the "False" Peruvian Histrix..
