Hit a road block :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if youre disrupting the benefitial bacteria that may be the issues.

That shouldn't be an issue that shows up in the nitrates as your BB will break down ammonia into nitrates, and generally don't take it any further. If you are disturbing your BB to often it will show up in your ammonia measurement.

The wc's need to be atleast 3 times per week with tests prior and after. Feeding reduced down. Another test to check as the shelf life is 6 months for water kits. Either the test is wrong or not enough water changes. Hoplo is right the BB is established and working it appears.

How often do you feed and how much ? Try purigen it works great. Add a few bags reduce feeding and clean your canister (in tank water).

I put my purigen in ac110s easy to get to that way.

Feeding three times a week with pellets and fish. Canister is cleaned and had purigen then matrix then cermaic balls plus bio balls.

agree with stepping up wc, measure you nitrates before you do a wc, do wc every alternate day

When was the last time you recharged the purigen?

I do not trust API for nitrate test. My readings are off the roof, so I went to Petsmart to let them test my water. API was reading 80ppm, Petsmart was @ 10ppm. I know Petsmart test strips were accurate as I had them test it before a 50% WC, it was reading @20ppm.

I will do the same will go to lfs to check my water

From what i understand the test strips are highly unreliable. Maybe decaying food/fish some where ?

I can walk you through the recharge if you want i have the stuff in all my tanks. Not to derail your thread but i would use safe its a more concentrated version of prime and will last allot longer. Especially if you decide to recharge your purigen. Also no way the purigen lasts 6 months like they advertise. I have 6 100ml bags in my 150 and needs to be recgarged every 2 or 3 months
