HITH Head is starting to Develop

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My O had HITH, so here's what i did;

First, I did a partial water change. Then, I put the recommended amount of Doc Wellfish's Aquarium salt.(Made for freshwater fish, also I used the dose Tropical fish treatment or with a remedy.) I put in the recommended amount of Melafix in the tank.( I also used the dose As a disease or wound treatment.) Quick cure. I repeatedly did water changes and added more treatment about every 3-4 days. I did all this for about 2 weeks. After the two weeks was over he was cured.

Easy fix

1.Remove carbon

2.Big water changes often

3.Favorite food as often as he'll take it (other then feeders)

4.Quarantine from other fish and begin medication for bacterial infection. (only if all else fails)

Nearly lost my female severum to hith when i moved house. Male took a dislike to her when they were reunited.

Refused all foods, even live. Hid in the corner, sulked, eventually devolved hith. Above schedule worked well for me.

The trick is to get them eating as soon as possible.

Best of luck

HITH has several probable causes, IMO.
1. Marginal water quality . The fix, unless your Tap water is not good, is to step up the amount of water you change a week.
2. Poor Nutrition. The fix, begin feeding a varied diet rich in vitamins. If your fish is a really finicky eater, dose his food with a liquid vitamin supplement such as Boyd's vitchem for fish.
3. Carbon in your filters. Remove the carbon.
4. Possible infection with the heximita virus. (use this option last IMO) Treat with a metrodiznol based medication.
