HITH or just sensory pits? (Midas)

Okay I don't use any carbon in his tank, but thanks for the reminder.

I am worried about the HITH recurring throughout his life because this guy seems to be stressed by the littlest things. Every time I vaccuum his tank he wedges under a rock in a space he can barely fit into. :-(

Feed that guy some frozen krill(defrost it first!),i've had fish act totally different when they first taste the nice meaty krill.My FH actually let me start to HANDLE him when he got on krill.

He is just a tiny-tim, they need a little extra TLC. Don't expect him to grow really big, but he may improve considerably as he gets older.

:-( Yeah he's been what you'd call a wuss from day 1. I actually "rescued" him from the LFS because he was being bullied by about 6 other Midases to the point that he was listing from side to side and not trying to escape anymore. They always say not to buy the weak ones but I couldn't help it!

It won't stunt their growth...however you will be able to see scarring from the pits depending on the severity.


BTW....bubble wander? What's that for??

Some people recommend bubble wands to increase the surface agitation to compensate for the warmer water.


Dude, get some dithers in there, sword tails, giant danios, something to make him feel more secure.

It's not that it will stunt their growth. They are usually weaker specimens that don't attain regular adult sizes.
