Well, I think you should try AQUA PLUS ,its worth its wieght in gold...No matter what my fish has had in the past , This stuff will knock it dead ,our heel whatever wound your fish has ...I hope it helps...

Regards,

Decoy

aqua plus has aloe all it really does is help stressed fish by giving them a slime coat usally lost when handled in a net and of course dechorinator but this will not help with hith

I have used hikari metro plus that has metrodeziale and slime coat enhancer but didnt work lets go uconn

So far most of what I am seeing suggests that it is a combination of dietary lacks and protozoal infection that is followed by bacterial secondary infections and that to cure it you need to address all three problems.

thx guppy thats my problem thats been my thinking all along but having seen a tank that has none of the associated conditions and getting hith in a species thats not normally associated with hith i'm trying to find another avenue of thought maybe age can act on fish like it does most animals cancers ect.
i've read several people have hith occur with one fish but not other so that does leave some more room for futher investigation.
i'm going to pick up a microscope and do a scraping from my gourami before it sucumbs to hith just make sure its not a bacterial infection that got past the sterlizer and later for interanal parasites .
the more info i can gather from members supporting my idea that maybe its passed down through a gene or its just because one fish is weaker then another from age might help in providing a diet thats more of a preventive then a cure

Older fish are more susceptible to it and to the similar Lateral Line Erosion in fish like catfish.

I had a Ctenopoma that got a slight case of HOTH, and I believe it was due to lack of proper diet. He was temporarily housed in a small overcrowded tank in my home for a month or so, where he was fed sparingly.

Never had a wild fish come in with HITH.. Had some knifefish with similiar style holes around their face, but this was due to aggression. It healed up with some meds and isolation..
