Hmm... Black Light??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
On the red light issue, I have them in my tank, they are flourescent lights T5, they look awesome and the fish dont notice it and all the nocturnal fish come out. If you use the flourescent though, after about 5 minutes it looks pink, only problem. Now you can also get a weaker actinic 38 watt, not sure of the kelvins, but it is purple. It looks great but if you have an acrylic tank with a black back, it tends to look purplish red. Not very appealing.

oops,i have moonlights on all my tanks exept the 29 gallon,on that i have a blacklight, and have for awhile.nobody seems to mind, but then again what kind of signs would i be looking for that its bothering them?if its hurting their eyes wouldnt they act, well, like their eyes hurt, lol?it does make the water look a little foggy or murky but i dont mind,do you guys really think its hurting my fish?depending on the answers i suppose ill replace it with an actual "moonlight" .they are about $50 at my lfs and i figured i was saving money.i admit to not researching it first.
