I would take the JavaFern out of the sand asap and attach it to the driftwood instead with a fishing line, it will attach to the wood eventually.
This plant´s roots will probably die in the substrate.

Microsorum pteropus is a water fern which should be grown on a root or stone, attached with fishing line until it has gained a hold. If it is planted in the bottom, do not cover the rhizome because it will rot
 
beautiful setup!! They'll darken up with time as they settle in.
 
Looking good Boomy! Take good care of them, and keep them fat. Odds are that they will go to more of a grey color because I had them on white/tan sand. Good luck with them, and getting more!
 
the 8th pic definitely is a male....nice trio man! they grow fast at that size...so you better feed 'em plenty! I love the your tank man. your substrate is great contrast.
 
Here are some more updated pictures of them and some shots of them eating. I measured them (from outside the glass) and the biggest one grew around 0.5"! Now at a whopping 7.5" and the other two are around 6.5" now, so they too grew around 0.5".:WHOA:
