HOB filter on side of tank??

I have a 75 gallon tank and plan on using a Aquaclear 110 HOB filter, however I have somewhat limited wall space and I have heard the AQ's need about 4 inches of clearance off the back of the tank. Is it possible to attach them to the side of the tank?

As long as you have the room and it fits, it should be fine.

It should be fine. You may want to get a Power head to push the water around from the other end.

I think you might run into problems with your top not fitting. If your top fits then do it but go with a powerhead to push water to the filter from the far end.

sounds good if u want just put another ac110 on the other side instead of the power head

I have a AC110 on the side of a 75g tank, water circulates fine. I have a glass top so it no longer fits. But the glass from a 16x20 picture frame fits near perfect.

You can attach it to any side you like.

Doesn't matter where you put it.You'll just have to improvise a top to accommodate it.

4 inches of space may not be enough clearance for an AC110.

an AC 70 which is a lot smaller would probably fit.

the AC110 should fit with all trims, but the AC 70 (much smaller) will usually not fit tanks 65 gallons and over because most manufacturers use the thicker trim with more of a lip on it.
