HOB filter with 3 1/4" clearance or..?

Hello, I'm looking for a decent HOB filter for my 125 gallon to go along with my magnum 350. I was going to get an aquaclear 110, but realized I don't have the space for that. I have a 2 top fin 60's (300 gph each) on my 55 gallon right now and haven't had a problem with them, and I know one of those would fit, but is there anything else out there, or should i go a different route all together?

Well, mostly because another canister filter is going to be a lot more expensive than a HOB. It looks like the aquaclear 50 will fit according to their website, and they are on sale for 50% at DrsFS. could pick up two...

sump would be cool if you had resources to do so. It would solve all your problems.

unfortunately a sump will not be an option as it would not fit under the stand

problem is although an AC50 will fit, it is so small its not really worth it. I use one on a 10 gallon..they are pretty small filters.

I would consider saving up for a Rena XP3 canister - a lot of bang for your buck

waiting to save up would be worth it

Fluvl 404s are $85 on ebay. Its just the previous version of the 405, there are no significant differences.

AC50 will not fit over the trim on a 125G, only an AC110 will fit (not even an AC70).

I just measured my Penguin 350 and it should just fit in there, and should fit on the rim of a 125G. It is an OK filter and much better than the Top Fin's (has twin Biowheels). Should be able to pick one up fairly cheap as well.

good point. I forgot about that. I tried an AC70 on my 65 and it would not fit either..
