I have two emperor 400 filters running on a 100g and it seems like it's not enough. I have a Rena canister filter on the way but I'm wondering if I should be using canister filters now that I have a bigger tank(I switched from a 55g).

What do you guys think?
2 a/cs-110s would do you well.

Hobs are excellant low maintenance debris filters that are easy to maintain. The emperor 400 bio wheels are excellant biofilters as well. As long as you can keep your debris entrained in your tanks water column rather than let it settle out, a HOB will remove it.
The trick is to arrange the tank so that circulation prevents dead spots that will allow mulm to build up.
Cans and Hobs work well together and you have the added benefit of being able to clean one without disturbing the biofiltration capability of the other.:headbang2
