HOB or Canister filter

What is better, two HOB or one canister filter? For example, two emperor 400 vs. fluval 405 or two AC110 vs. eheim 2117? What's your recommendations?

well i run one of each. hob for mech filtration and canister for bio

It's a matter of personal choice. Some people like canisters, some like HOBs. Either will do the job. IMO, two HOBs are better than one canister. I prefer HOBs. Have 30 tanks with mostly AquaClears and a few with Emperors. HOBs are easier to maintain than canisters and generally have a better flow rate.

I use an AC 110 for mechanical and Marineland C-530 Canister for Bio on my 75 gallon.
Speaking of flow rate, check out my canister wall of flow pain lol I observed it during a water change and just had to get a pic. This is with a pre-filter sponge on the inlet.

or if you are looking to save money get a sun sun canister.

Yea xp4 or fx5 both have advantages but an extra ac110 is always handy!
