So basically, I'm gonna buy either aquaclear 110s or 70s. For breeding/fry tanks.

Would you:

A) pay 10 bucks more and get the 110
B) get the smaller one.

I'm afraid that the 110s will be too much for a 20g tank. I have one on my 29g and it seems pretty strong.

I'm planning on ordering 3 110s for a 120g tank, and 3 70s for breeding projects etc.

What are you guys thoughts? Sponges will be attached the intakes of all of them.

People will probably tell you to get 110s, but there is really no reason for it. 70s are fine.

If that's the case, whats the point of spending extra money?

A 70 should be fine, as long as your water changes are good. 500GPH is a lot of waterflow for a 20. I use an AC 70 on my 20's

what you could do is get the 110's but leave them on the low flow setting

that way, if you end up using them on large tanks in the future, you don't have to upgrade.

I have a AC 70 on a 20 gallon long and I leave it on the low flow setting and its fine.

but I could use it on a 35 if I wanted to.

getting the 110's gives you more options down the road

who knows what you may end up doing a few years from now..

I also use AC70's on my 20's and for the ones that need less current I either use a penguin 150 or run the AC's on the low setting.

I would go with the 110, i always like to overfilter my tanks.. I don't have a 110 myself but i have a Marineland Emporer 400 on a 30 gal and it keeps the tank nice and clean and it's 400gph.

110's are great, however if you're going to have it running on a fry tank, be sure and cover the intake with some mesh so they don't get sucked up.
