i have the AC110 on my 20 gal tank and its flowing on 100% I dont thing the current would be too bad for breeding. Especially since you can turn it down. Id get the 110 and turn it all the way down

the thing that would be good about the 110's is if in a few years from now you decide to get some big tanks, bingo - you have your filters.

the AC70's are so much smaller than the 110's - they are really only good for up to 35ish or so gallon tanks by themselves.

the 110's can probably go up to 65's alone if you wanted..

I think its worth it for the option down the road to get the 110's - because ya never know..

This is true, and so is what was said about future tanks. You could put a piece of sponge over the intake and it would restrict the flow further I would think.

I use both Aquaclear 110's and 70's and both have foam filter over the intakes. The 110 can still fairly easily suck up fry and even the AC70 do sometimes. I have been switching all my breeder tanks over to foam filters also the foam filters don't suck up freshly hatched brine shrimp. The tanks with the Aquaclears I need to turn off the filters while feeding baby brine shrimp.

be carefull puting foam or filter pads over the intake on your 110's.

i was doint this exact thing on my 20G. i came home from work one day to find that my filter was not pumping water. turns out the pad i had on had finally plugged up.... i just said "F it" and put a pot scrubby over it. no way that will plug, and who doesnt have pot scrubbies around? it does reduce flow a bit, but not as much as the filter pad did.
