HOF overflow box

i want to make my HOF into an overflow box.
but have no idea how to....
i only know i have to drill a hole in it to drain water.
can anone show me some examples of HOFs turned overflow box?

just a suggestion your better off building a PVC overflow. its easy

i dont have a drill.
i dont have a saw.
and i cant get any.
the only place i can drill anything is in my school and i dont think theyll let me stay there for hours drilling a tank..

His not talking about drilling the tank... make a PVC unit they seem to work just as fine. Or go and buy a HOB overflow.


And what does that F stand for?

HOF=Hang on filter? Not sure I've seen anyone sucsessfully convert a filter into an overflow. Building a PVC overflow is pretty easy and you really only need a hacksaw.

shoooot you could probably even use a steak knife to cut pvc!! lol. There is a reeeeal long thread on this site about making a DIY pvc overflow. look for it under; hmmm "DIY"

i just recently made one. cost about 6 bucks. save a lot of money

ive just got an idea btu im not sure how well it will work.
ive read the stickies.
but i dont understand alot of it.

its so that the overflow stays primed in the event of a power out and it causes the setup to overflow rather than syphon, if it was a syphon then you'd never be able to match the flow rates perfectly and end up with a dry tank or dry sump.
