I think its a maketing plow also. Whether people admit it or not, pure leo pups were going for 1200 a pop three years ago. And recently I have seen them being hard pressed to sell for 7-8 hundred. Seen one as low as $600. Its a hard market to move any expensive rays except to the hard core ray keepers who can afford it or have space.

Technically, they are different species being crossed... so it would be like crossing a human and a chimp. Right? Hehe
They wont know anything forsure until the new quotas are given for 2012. Supposed to happen after the new year
They have done this every yr since the quota started .Around the begining of Nov.Ibama doesnt want anymore catching of rays,anything they have on hand can be sold as long as each exporter has some still left on their induividual quota.Next yr they will do another quota ? maybe Feb,March.And it will all start again.The prices will not drop from the exporter,they dont care that the market follows the economy,but all the importers are fighting for pricing,just to be able to sell what they have.
Not a plow from the exporters just happens every yr like this.If they still have some rays left from the last yrs quota ,they cna still file some paperwork with Ibama and still get them released without the new quota out yet.

i dont care what a ray looks like for me pure blood is best
i had 5 x p14 pups and sold them all for £500-600 which i have always thought fair for p14 pups no matter what they look like even if they were super spot AAAAAA galaxy the price would be the same
i have tryed to stay clear of hybrids but my leobd male was mature in time to breed with my leobd female so i have some p14 x leobd pups due soon i dont care how nice they are the price will be £400 as i dont feel a hybrid is worth as much as a pure blood no matter what it looks like
i have sort of changed my opinion of leo and bd if you look back i had one of the 1st bd around and pointed out the differences like belly spotting different colour eyes and people said i was wrong and they are the same as leo but a higher grade from a diffrent location which i now agree with
when you have a leo x bd you dont get the messy paturns you get with other hybrids you just get a better looking leo which tells me they are the same type of ray
if you cross a henlei with a bd you dont get round spots you get a messy spot with smaller spots around it like with other hybrids
for most people p14 x bd would be great but i dont feel the same

i would actually like either my male 14's impregnanting my bd's or my bd male impregnating my p14 females.unfortunately even though they are in the same tank, they show no intrest in crossing.i think that would be a great looking hybrid!
