Hold onto your leos!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if it was something in the genes then ALL pups from them adults would have the defect

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about... Try and look up "recessive genes" on google before you come with more stupid claims.

Thanks for the info anders

I actually got these leos from germany through you i belive... I was told they came from different breeders but i guess i can never be sure...

Im going to try mixing her w a different male next round to see wht happens

Hmmm I have had hystrix and scobina pups shipped to the US. But not leos. :)

It would actually be more interesting if you had the same pair mate again!

i how the genes work thank you i am just going on what has happened to me with one litter the much smaller pup had bad split lip the larger was fully fussed and the largest pup in the litter no split at all

i have also bred from the ray that had the fused part but still had the line with no split lip past on

we all have our own ideas on what makes the batman defect and i should be allowed mine without you telling me i know nothing about what i am talking about

if you have firm proof of why this happens then please let us know and why it is this doesnt seam to happen with wild rays as much or is it a case of it happening in the wild a lot but rays caught with this defect being thrown back as rubbish

How can you say something this stupid and still claim that you know anything about genes: "if it was something in the genes then ALL pups from them adults would have the defect"

Its wrong in every way possible.

Could you try and tell me what you are saying here? "i have also bred from the ray that had the fused part but still had the line with no split lip past on"

If I may but in, I think what T1 was saying is that not all the pups from his pair have the defect and that diet seems to have some effect on it.

So in his experience it does not seem to be 100% gene related

Disclaimer: That is just what I got from it I could be wrong :)

anders have p14 ever been allowed ?? THEY WERE ALWAYS BEING TAKEN ILLEGALLY ESPCAILLY BY YOUR GERMAN POACHER BUDDIE LOL

this was actually her 2nd litter with that male.

her first litter was 2 pups w cleft lips but they were both born premature and died a few days later. her second litter was 5 pups.... 3 of them had cleft lips and 2 of them had no signs of cleft lip. she is about to give birth in about 4 weeks with her 3rd litter w the same father so we will see wht happens...

i was talking to a guy that used to breed sharks and he said that if both mom and dad carried the recessive gene then 3/4 of the pups produced will have the deformity which makes alot of sense when her last litter some had the cleft lip and some didnt....

the male will be pulled out when she gives birth in 4 weeks, hopefully my other male will take a crack at her
