my female kenyi is holding. i don't have a male kenyi though. the only males i have in my tank are the fuelleborni, c. moori, and a sulfur head peacock. so who do you think did it? the fuelleborni has been digging, but not enough to convince me that he's the pop. i have a 2.5 that i plan on raising the fry in temporarily. so how long should i wait before i pull her and put the fry in the 2.5?

I usually wait about 20 -24 days before I move the fish. From what you have I would guess the fuellborni. Althouh I have had a female cichlid lay eggs before with nobody fertalizeing them and she held them for about 15 days before eating them.

How long have you had the fish? Sometime when you buy a new fish they have had the servicing done whilst still in the tank at the shop. If not then it could be the fuelleborni otherwise as stated just a false pregnancy.
I leave my fish with fry for around 24 days then I try and entice her to spit by putting small amounts of food into the breeding net she is in. Hunger eventually tells her to spit and eat food.:naughty: :woot: :clap :headbang2

Since they are hybrids I would use them as fish food. Hybrids are absolutely no good for the African Cichlid hobby.

Very well said, i was looking at some africans at my LFS today and they mentioned the possibilty of hybrids and i passed them up. I dont want mutts i want real fish not fish pond left overs.

I hope she drops something though to solve the mystery.

hybrids or not if you are are keeping them for yourself then i see in no way does it affect the hobby for anyone else. I do agree if you are going to the lfs you should be buying purebreds. would still be nice to see what they look like.
