Hole-in-head in arowana?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok I have read something about that causing trouble with arowanas because it removes electrolytes or somethinge like that? Will remove the carbon, I do a lot of water changes anyway, so I will just go to bioligical filtration in my sumps. Still trying to find a good recipe for medicated food.

hmmm hole in the head for aros??now thats new....maybe your aro is very active and jumps too much every night and he bump his/her head on your glass.

For an update.... I took out the carbon and switched to seachems purigen which has minimal impact on trace minerals. I also started adding discus trace minerals to the tank, and feeding gut loaded crickets. Everything looks much better now.

I rescued a silver w? hole in the head 40 % water cxahanges , melafix, no feeder goldfish and vitimans. Feed pellets and frozen food

Yeah I try to stay away from feeders. Have everyone weened except my TSN. He is almost two feet now, and likes a medium koi every once in a while. My arrowanas get lots of krill, crickets, mealworms, waxworms, and butter worms. THey dont like the pellets, but I work at a pet store so I dont mind providing live insects for them.

I had received two arrowana's as a gift, little to my knowledge at the time, I placed them together in a 75 gallon. Within a couple of weeks, one had picked on the other one so badly, half it's tail was missing. I transfered him to another tank, but it was too late. Upon futher research I found arrowana's should not be kept together.

Well my two do ok together. So do my two silvers in my other tank. I think the trick is to get them both small and raise them together. Of course mine have never been in a tank smaller than a 150, so mabye that was your problem?
