Hole in the head (HITH)? What in the world?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Howdy,

The hole turned black within two days of treatment ... I guess that means something is happening...

As for tox info, everyone in the tank is doing well, including the plants. Considering the data I found says it inhibits photosynthesis, I only dose at night. By the next morning, my drip system will have changed enough water to bring the concentration below levels of concern. Hikari advises to conduct "partial" water changes daily, which is why I did not turn off my drip system.

After a week, I am still waiting to hear back from Hikari on how they define "partial" water change, and what the nominal target concentration is (Product Sheet and MSDS differ).

I only hope their meds work faster than they do ...

good to hear that the holes are starting to heal.

Howdy,

9 days of treatment are over.

After 2 days: HITH had completely turned dark

After full treatment regimen: Corner of HITH turns white. New tissue?

I'd show pic, but have trouble uploading.

Did the holes fill up? or there are still holes?

I started the second 9-day metro+ treatment regimen last night ... another $76 dissolving in water ...

Howdy,

r u treating him n the 220? ifso have it harmed ur plants any?
good job bro:cheers:

Yeah, I treat the whole tank. For one main reason: I'd hate to disrupt the pecking order. They all get along, I'm not going to mess with it. And you never know, maybe another fish is about to develop HITH, and treating the whole tank cures the whole pack.

As for plants, they are doing great! See here:

Shrimp, Endler guppies, catfish, snails, plants, they are all doing well.
