Dont use salt bad advice it will raise cortisol levels and stress the renal system.

As long as the salt solution is isotonic with the fish's blood, and raised to isotonic levels gradually, cortisol levels will decrease.

Ok, so I did a 30 - 40% water change. From not having the carbon in the filter because of the treatment I had a nice scubbing that was need due to the algea growth. I checked the water and my nitrates are still at 20 ppm. Could this be right?

When I first moved here the nitrates were low...Im going to check now anyway.

Yep, thats it.

Up until now the readings have been the same and my nitrates were never that high. I wonder what changed?

Anyway, I have some stuff thats supposed to eliminate nitrates that I put in.

So nitrates are low low low! :) Frankie is healing up wonderfully. The tank looks beautiful and were back on track!!!

Thank you so much everyone for all your advice!

...now my Red Devil is all beat to garbage. He's kinda floating in the top corner but if I walk over he acts normal again. He has a few scrapes but his fins are definitely torn up. He was perfectly fine this morning. *sigh* Time to melafix I suppose...
