I've never dealt with it either I was gonna suggest maybe a mod move this to the health n disease forum so someone could help you.I THINK lots of freshwater n salt but not positive so I'd research it more. Also I think there's meds for this but unsure what works n what doesn't. Kinda interesting as I can't think of ever seeing this on piranha.my understanding is that this was a cichlid disease.you have me curious now.guess better research it myself.

Again i do not have any personal experience with it. I have heard of it alot with cichlids and i assume the cause it going to be the same, Which is usualy lack of clean water and a proper diet so you need to address these before you start considering any form of medication.

It is believed that the parasite hexamita may cause it. Either way hexamita is a opportunistic pathogen and will only infect a fish when the opportunity presents itself (poor diet and poor water quality)

Wow, i'm with everyone else, only heard of it with cichlids. Never even thought about the possibility of piranhas getting it. Sad man.

did you tank cycle again? Are the tap water parameters vastly different from your old water? Are you on well water or are there any nitrates in your tap water?
