Right, my search has continued for notatus with no luck.
Quint, they aren't notatus. They lack the definite black banding (true notatus cant shift it) similar to that of a rotkeil.
What you have there are Heros efascatius
Or, (this old chestnut) My own big male.
Come in all shapes, sizes and colours depending on catch location (Mine seems to be from the Rio Manau)
All Males might i add, but 100% NOT Notatus. There seem to be none in England what so ever (for sale at least)
(All Notatus by the way are from the Rio Negro, southern part if im not mistaken)
Even at a very young age, Notatus will display prominent black bars along the lower flanks
