Wow man great save! Would have hated to see him/her go! As for food I stick to superworms/giant mealworms earthworms and crickets for my Jar... I once saw a video of an asian aro farm that raised cockaroaches to feed the ponds... I'm pretty sure that's about all they fes them... seems like almost a perfict food for an aro to me, the breed and grow super fast you can fees them what ever you want (like fish food with color enhancers) but I'm not to sure who'd want to farm coxkaroaches at the homes lol you'd definetely not wanna let any loose haha... you could also farm large crickets... anyway great catch and keep us updated
As of early 5am eastern time. The aro is well ... i threw so aro sticks in but he didnt touch any of them... i didnt think he would and probably wont it until the stress calms down.. but he looked good and was swimming tail up and mouth open... breathing normally... yep it would have killed me if lost him... never though i would do fish surgery!!! Thanks all... but seriously getting off the shrimp need to find something else...
what a great thing that you were so observant to notice all these things about your arow that were not right..just subtle type things too.. fast thinking on your part and very brave to take the chance and take him out.. that alone is a very risky deal..the arow looks huge in the water but out of water and they are gigantic..... thick, heavy and wild......... i am so relieved you were successfully able to remove that from his mouth.. please keep us all updated.. is he eating again?? i do not think your arow would want shrimp again anyway..
yes i am very attentitive with my babies... scan them everyday or so for any issues... but this one was in plain site... i figured he wasnt eating and when i tried to hand feed him ... he just seems to stay at my finger and not leap... i could tell he was starvin...so while in the water he wouldnt allow me to open his mouth... i then took it upon myself to more or less ... your going laugh but straddle this fish on my floor with towels all around him... used two spoons to pry that mouth open.. man what teeth they have... and as of 9pm he is doing fine... so hopefully its all good.....thanks again everyone
