Its not the right color to be a piraiba I don't believe. They are alot more silver. You can tell its definately not a mekong because its mouth isn't shaped right and also because of the smaller tail fin. I just checked his website, that video I believe is of the fishing trip to surinam, south america in the summer this past year. If you look at a mekong you'll see it has a monster tail fin and is a more muscular, thinner fish proportionately. You can also tell its a south american catfish by the water, looks like blackwater IMO I'm voting Piraiba also about 95% sure on that. ~Trent

Edit: after reviewing the video again the second dorsal as been said doesn't match up with the jau's, its to smooth I guess its a really dark piraiba probably a little bigger then the one I posted a pic of but not by much if any

It's the Brachyplatystoma filamentosum. I think may have a new scientific name now... too lazy to look it up.

That is a PARAIBA .. the biggest cought on mono line .. hunt for big fish kick's ass, this guy is awsome I've seen him fish for arimra and dorado he know's his $hit.
