I don't think so. What I'm trying to say is if that much water is shifting around, I don't think the straps would hold. Though, I don't have experience in the matter.

any added suport has got to be better then nothing. Im so glad i wasnt home when it hit. I duno how i would have reacted with my habitat moveing

I was sittin on my couch with my laptop in my lap watching my fish tank sway back n forth, i quickly got up and saved it from tipping because a 55g on a rod iron base stand swyaing with 700 pounds of stuff in the tank isn't too sturdy compared to a solid wooden base stand...
- nevertheless, I will never forget that earthquake

if you have a 5 foot tall setup, the straps help. and if i was to have anything over 200gallons living in socal, i'm gonna strap it

like someone said, it's better to strap it than not, at least then the chances are less likely, no? plus you sound really sure for someone who doesn't have any experience in the matter.

i don't either, but i only stated a fact, which is, in socal, some people strap their tanks to the wall as a precaution. it's like saying it's stupid to wear seatbelts because you're going to die anyways in a wreck. well, i'd rather wear it and be in an accident than not wear it and be in an accident

now we have to survive a hurricane. 2012 wasnt suppose to happen so soon.
