Never seen them this high. Guess its time to turn off the oxygen pump and pull some massive water changes.

Any other ideas to get it down in a safe manor?

lol i just posted a thread with my colors too. same problem bro.

A little info on how often you do water changes, how often you clean your canister, and how often you feed, might help in diagnosing the problem.
You can hang pothos on the sides or in back of the tank, I find the roots are a natural look, depending on whether your fish think of them as salad or not.

Hey guys. Sorry for the delay.

55 gallon long
Cascade 1000
Marineland hot magnum on the back
9x young cichlid(no more than 2")

50% water change
canister clean with wc water pulled from python once a month
Magnum every off 2 weeks from canister

Feed once a day(usually no scraps) hikari gold one day, flakes, blood worms. Alternate each day.

It is weird cause of came out of no where. I check my water every 3-4 days too.

I'm hoping it was just a fluke test so I'm letting the test tubes and caps soak in the tank.

again i still think nitrates is a myth, until someone shows me a study or some kind of document saying it isnt so! lol btw how are u fish doing with that level of nitrates?

Fine. They are kind of a center piece so you find yourself staring at them all the time. Veracious as always. No signs of stress. Fins are all fine as I know some say they disappear with high nitrates. Color is as good as can be for these young guys.
