at the moment, nope the rock is not being quarantine. didn't have any extra tank to quarantine it. but it will be inside my tank for approximately a week or 2 before I add any fish/inverts to it.

ive got one of these in my tank. it looks like the same species. grey/pink in colour, 6 rows of bristles running the length of the body i guess its about 6"+ as i've only seen 4" of it and it wasnt getting any thinnner :)

i have only seen it like 3 times. twice about 3 months ago at 1-2" and a few weeks ago.

ive not seen it lately so i havent been able to get rid of it, but no one seems to be sure if theyre bad or good for the aquarium. i suppose if theres enough for them to eat in the aquarium, they wont eat anything else.

If you try and take them out, make sure your using tweezers, those bristles stick in your fingers and are a night mare to get out.

(And they hurt)

Just a Bristleworm. If you can get it out, grest, if not it will not be the end of the world. Years ago People would freak out if they found a bristle worm in their tank. Now a days they are part of reef keeping. You will never rid your rock of bristleworms unless you dry it out and start from scratch. Best thing to do is keep them under control. If they are small enough, you can put a 6 line wrasse or yellow coris wrasse in the tank and they will eat them. I have a customer who has a 400 gallon reef tank with just about every coral known to man in it. THey have tons of bristleworms some as round as your pinkie finger. They actually come out to eat with the fish when it is feeding time.

Arrow crabs keep them under control

K it is a bristle-worm some time's when starved of light the get a grayish color. Bristle-worm's are detriovor's and scavenger's completely harmless unless you touch them.
