HOLY %^$#@$% WHAT IS THIS???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have some in my 12, I got used to it, and they stir up the sand bed and eat excess food, so personally I don't have a problem with them, in face some places even sell them as part of a clean up crew buy.

The fireworms are the ones you have to watch for, but they aren't nearly as common to get in liverock.

Do these worms reproduce by themselves??? Not sure if I want them in my tank, its eating some of my coraline algae. Are there other inverts that will eat these worms? Im planning to put a six line wrasse in it for sure to keep them under control.
Will they latch onto inverts too? Don't want them to latch onto these expensive cleaner shrimp.

yes the can reproduce quickly. Usually the the crud in a tank for them to feed on, the quicker the population will increase. If your population gets too large, this isnt necessarily healthy for the aquarium, you'll know when the population gets to that point.

if you dont want them in your tank, then you will want to purchase a trap for them or manual removal. These traps are tubes in which you place pieces of food, krill is most common, and catch them. This tube keeps the fish out and let the bristles get in, but not out. pretty neat, but sometimes it takes week to catch one lol. although as mentioned before, just leave it, its not going to hurt anything.

or DIY it with pantyhose a some form of food inside, what happens is the worms bristles get stuck on it and then u remove. I havnt done either method, as like I said they don't annoy me but both should work.

Hey at least it isnt predatory. I had a worm with a pair of jaws that kille half of my snails and a shrimp.
