why not cover it in clear krylon fusion?

Polyresin is normally safe in aquaria once cured. If there are any bare patches in the coating, or you're unsure of it being safe, I recommend fully coating the piece with 2-part marine epoxy.
The stone powder is the biggest risk since there are no regulations covering fillers added to the mix. Powderized metals and toxic elements can occassionally find their way into the mix to make weight during production runs. All the company is required to list is 'ash' content. The ash can be any industrial left-over.

Turn the statue over and fill the hole with sand. Then epoxy on a piece of tile. Coat the area with the epoxy coating. And, place the piece in your tank once the coating has fully cured.

It may say on the packaging if it's safe for aquatic use or not. It's probably no worse then the overpriced stuff sold for aquarium decor.

"Probably" isn't good enough for many of us. With over $40K in fishes, a simple matter of purchasing $100 or less in materials to guarantee the health of an expensive collection definitely outweighs taking unnecessary risks with a piece of decoration.

IDK about the décor for US, but as far as décor for FISH lol.........I use their PVC pipes....the elbows and T-joints and build caves on them, using them as a foundation. Displaces MUCH less water than rocks of the same size and adds extra caves to the mix since they are hollow. Maybe fancy is pretty, but practical is more useful to me.
