It says that is can be used in an aquarium in the description. Was wondering, this stuff is a lot cheaper than store bought gravel. Anyone with long term experience with this gravel?

Works just fine and it's cheap.

It will work...

Although personally I think it's worth paying $8 for Pool Filter Sand...

QuickCrete sand is a very wide range of particle sizes from fine to course. So you will need to put a lot of effort into washing it and also keep in mind you will be washing out a portion of the productyou just paid for.

Pool Filter Sand is regulated in size to be only coarse sand with no fines. The fines are what easily get pulled into filters causing all sorts of concerns.

I use the gravel and I really like it but it is very dirty. If I am starting a new tank I pour the gravel into the empty tank and then use my python to fill 1/4 way and start vaccuming. I repeat this like 4 or 5 times.

Yea, but you cannot beat the price thou. It is actually $4 at Lowes for a 50 pound bag.

The white fine sand, no rinse required. Instant settle too.

i use it mixed with playsand in my 90g, i personally think the wide range of particle sizes makes it look more natural

Do not get this sand this sand suck big time, I had this sand in my tank for a month or so and i hated it, it will cloud up your tank when the fish just flash or search for food get the pool filter sand or marine sand u will save money in the long run with this cause if u buy this u will be searching for better sand.

Why is everyone talking about sand? He asked about gravel.

I used the HD Pea Gravel, which is probably similar/the same, for a long time. It took FOREVER to rinse enough for my tastes, but once it was in it looked natural, nice, and was so easy to vaccuum. It was nice and heavy so it never got sucked up, but gave good back pressure (or whatever that effect is) that made sucking poop out so easy. I never get the same easy pull now that I'm using PFS everywhere.

Honestly, if I didn't have fish that preferred sand I'd go back to the cheapo gravel in a heartbeat.
