pool filter sand is great, not too dirty, and will look nice. you can use sand blasting sand as well from a masonry yard if you had one close.

I think home depot has mason sand or something :screwy:

i have used 2 diffrent kinds of sand from home depot in my 75 gal silica sand and play sand both had awful results, i spent hours cleaning the sand and still got cloudy water that just wouldnt go away even with daily water changes. do yourself a favor and use pool filter sand.......

Is this the stuff your referring to? I used it in my 90. No problems so far just be sure to rinse it very well.

It took about 3 days for the dust to settle. Here's what it looks like now. Don't mind the random fish and plants. The tanks not set up yet the way I want it. The fish in there now will be relocated to a 20.

i got the homedepot sand and it was fine just give it 3 days to settle. i even did it with fish in the tank

I used the home depot play sand, and it is fine for me. I rinsed it vigorously for 2 days straight, and got no cloudiness. It does however stir up pretty easily, and can clog your filter if you don't keep an eye on it.
