Homemade Fishing Rod?

I wasn't sure wether to put it here or in the diy section but anyway here it is. I just want to know if there is any way to make a fishing rod and reel out of household apliances. Just wanted a project to work on sinceIi can't fish due to all the snow :/. Ah well, any ideas people? Thnaks

IDK you could buy stuff to make your own
Other then that what the heck would u use as a blank? :confused:
 
Use a sappling like the old country:cool-1:
 
you could make bamboo fly rods
 
I was thinking to widdle a tree branch thats thick at the bottom and nice and thin at the top of course you could make a reel out of one of those kite reeler-inners :) you can also use those screws with circular things on the top (dont know what its called) as eyes, good luck and tight lines :D
 
Problem is that it would snap with any decent sized fish or you would be better off with a steel pole

um... do you mean graphite?...:screwy: lol. and i have a few designs and i know for hte pole now and i just have to find out a reel to make. i have a few designs but i havnt tried it yet so... lol
 
There's not much to do in Iowa in the winter is there?
 
Out of household appliances?
You could tie a hook to a toaster oven and chuck it into the lake?
I suppose you could rig up a crab trap out of a rice maker.:D
