How do y'all start the siphon flow with these setups?

Yup lung power, just suck on the end of the hose...

How do you gravel vac with these things?

I don't gravel vac because I have sand, the fish waist sits on top of the sand and the current from the filters suck all the debris up... I just do water changes

Nice. Mine looks exactly like yours except for a red handle and a T on the output instead of an elbow. It helps split the flow up a bit.

Nice idea. I use a quick release bar clamp. On one of my plexi tanks there's a round hole on top I can stick the hose into it. It holds itself there.. When I just need to top off water I just use the garden spray gun.

I made mine so that water can stay in the part that hangs outside the tank between water changes, that way all I have to do is open the valve and the siphon begins
