Females are a far cry from your normal Jags as well!

You are correct there, George.

My f1 Hondo pair spawning right now. I'll try to grow these ones out for those of us in Cali. The last batch went to another member here. Mo, that Hondo jag of yours went out to a buddy of mine. Going to check it out soon. Maybe I'll get some pics to keep this thread going.

count me in for a couple :D

His breeding pair are F1, their spawn would be F2.............you do not keep F2...............right?

correct, I have f1 sibling pair from Fish Farm early 2008. Note their fry are f2 inbred pure hond jags (not saying this is a good thing). I suspect these will be more and more available since f1s are poping up everywhere and now not just Mo and Ken have these wild jags. I do hope though that everyone keeps these hondo jags breeding with other hondo jags. Its real easy to dilute this jag with regular jags and call them hondo jags.

Just a quick point about genetics, inbreeding, etc..... There's nothing at all wrong or inherently weak about an F2 fish. You would have to go much farther down the line, much farther, until you begin to have genetic problems. You'd probably stop counting before you saw problems.

Many of these fish come from fairly isolated breeding populations that are fairly small, and the incidence of inbreeding issues are usually culled out by natural selection. Do the same with your F22 fry, and you'll be fine!

Hopefully they'll stay pure. By far the best looking jag in my opinion. I'd like a pictorial guide on all the jag location varients.
