honduran red point

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
HRP's are my favorite fish fantastic shape and color. Also they have great personality aggressive enough but not to bad that you have to worry about then killing everything.

My avatar is one of my leucistic male HRP's

Wow duanes, those are spectacular. I've been looking for quality red points but there aren't any where I'm located. Would you be willing to ship a few my way? I'd pay good money for those little guys.

I recently picked one up from wetspot, I wish would have picked up a few more. I was under the impression they were a little less pugnacious then convicts but mine has a huge attitude.

I was actually about to make a thread asking about them! I've been doing alittle reading and wanted to do some fact checking but I guess I can do it here ^.^ btw, nice fish! Size wise they get what? Been reading like 4". Temperament I was reading not as bad as convicts but that there were a lot of similarities. To the point of temperament, what kind of tank would they go in better? Aggressive mid size cichlid tank (JD, GT, and the likes) or large semi-aggressive (severums and chocolate cichlids)?

Again nice fish! I don't have room currently but they are definitely added to my list.

I have mine in with severums at them moment they are doing great and are actually breding. I had them in with a 4" Geophagus Brasiliness and he kept them cowering so that wasn't a good match. I also had them with small green terros and the GT's ignored the HRP's. I find they do best with Firemouths, Rainbows, Sajica and other like sized cichlids.

They typically are not as fisty as convicts but you can get one in every bunch with an attitude.t I would definitely not put them in the realm of aggressive. I have two breeding pairs of leucisitc HRP's in a 75 and they stay on opposite sides of the tank and charge each other from time to time but never cause any damage. As far size goes 4" is pretty accurate.

Thanks! Sounds like they'd make good filler fish when my red severum and chocolate upgrade to the 55.

My largest is maybe 3", and my spawning females are just over an inch.
I keep 7 in a 45 gal high, and no other species.
below is a female guarding fry in a piece of 1.5" PVC pipe.
