Hood or no hood? What do ya think?!

Thanks everyone! I think he did a great job on it as well. I will post updated pictures after we stain it to see how it looks. We actually don't do water changes more than once every couple weeks so it wouldn't be that big of a deal to take it off then. He says this is just a temporary. When we move into a house he is going to build one with doors that open up front so we can access the tank other than from the back.

hood, if you make it the same color, makes the tank look much bigger and more like a piece of furniture than without hood

Thanks guys! We will keep the hood on there! I like the way it makes it look like a piece of furniture because it is our centerpiece in the living room of our apartment. We put the TV in the bedroom lol. We would rather watch the fish. Going to stain it probably tonight or at least within the next couple of days and post an updated picture!

I absolutely hate hoods. Just not me, maybe if it was smaller it would look fine but not for me. Not dissing your BF or anything, just a no for me.

I don't know. Having a hood on there will make it even harder to catch your fish. What if I want another raphael catfish from that tank?

Leave it on and put some molding around the top to eliminate the gap between it and the ceiling. I'll be pretty hard to access the tank, but at least it'll look nice.
